Emphasizing personalized care and surgical expertise, Dean Priest Porter, MD is one of Houston’s leading ophthalmic surgeons. Dr. Porter specializes in surgery of the anterior segment including small incision “no needle, no patch” cataract surgery, refractive lens, and glaucoma surgery. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been in private practice at Texas Eye Institute since 1994.
Dr. Porter attended Duke University (B.A. Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa), the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (M.D. with Honors), and the University of Texas Medical Branch (Chief Resident in Ophthalmology, Clinical Instructor). He completed fellowship training emphasizing cataract, anterior segment and glaucoma surgery in 1994.
Dr. Porter participates in ongoing Continuing Medical Education and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Medical Association, the Texas Medial Association, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Houston Ophthalmological Society. He has served as a Chairman of the Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital Ophthalmology Section. Dr. Porter is certified to use the ReSTOR multi-focal intraocular lens for cataract and refractive lens surgery.
