Dr. Rachel Chang is a board-certified therapeutic optometrist. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in biochemistry. She then moved back to Houston, where she grew up, to complete her doctorate at the University of Houston College of Optometry, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Her training included clinical rotations at a high volume pathology clinic in Dallas and a private practice in Houston specializing in the management of anterior segment disease. Following graduation she completed a rigorous post-doctoral residency in ocular disease and refractive and ocular surgery at Eye Center of Texas.
Dr. Chang is passionate about maintaining good ocular health. In addition to prescribing glasses and contact lenses, she manages chronic ocular diseases such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, as well as acute conditions like red eyes and foreign bodies. She is also experienced in co-managing post-surgical patients. Currently, she sees patients alongside Dr. Michael Koop at the Sugar Land, Southwest, and Angleton offices.
In her spare time, Dr. Chang loves to run or bike around Houston parks and explore the local food scene with her friends and family.
